What is SLU?
In an age where everyone relies so heavily on the Internet, it may come as some surprise that there are still areas of the UK that cannot receive fast broadband over a telephone line! There are even more homes that are still unable to receive a minimum speed of 2Mbps! Since October 2010, Call Flow has rapidly been deploying High Speed Broadband using the very latest SLU technology to those customers unable to receive ‘fast’ broadband over the traditional BT network.
Why might my broadband be bad at the moment?
The biggest impact on traditional broadband speeds is the distance between your home and the BT Internet equipment at your telephone exchange. In most cases, the distance between customers and their exchange is not very far but for rural areas or developments outside of a main town, this distance can be a lot further.
Being so far away, the broadband ‘signal’ has to travel a long distance. High speeds cannot be maintained over such long line lengths.
What are Call Flow doing different to make things better?
Call Flow have installed their own exchange equipment nearer to a number of rural and ‘out of town’ developments housed within their own localised street cabinets.
This reduces the distance between your home and the internet equipment meaning that higher speeds can be sustained.
